Caye Caulker - Belize

Caye Caulker is located one mile west of Belize Barrier Reef, the world’s second largest Reef. It is a four mile long island, which is only one out of the 450 islands or Cayes which forms the Belize Barrier Reef.

Getting to Caye Caulker

The Island has a relaxing atmosphere with white sandy streets and exotic blue water. Being in a subtropical country, the weather is usually sunny with a short rainy season. You can enjoy sailing, diving, snorkeling, birding, fishing and windsurfing in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean.

Popeye's Beach Resort can arrange trips to see manatees, or inland jungle expeditions; where you get to see a vast collection of flora and fauna, a variety of birds, monkeys, bats and other wildlife. Birds of interest are: Green Aztec Parakeets, Ringed Kingfishers and Tropical Mocking Birds. There are spotting of at least 230 species of birds in Belize.

The laid back atmosphere on Caye Caulker, where dressing is casual-something you must see to believe. There are a variety of hotels, resorts and hostels in addition to restaurants and gift shops on the main street.

Caye Caulker remains friendly and easygoing, avoiding the commercialism of other destinations. Like all Caribbean islands, the only traffic you will encounter will be tiny golf carts and bicycles. However, most people enjoy walking around and soaking up the warm sunshine.
